Shu-Chen Cheng is a full time ceramic artist, originally from Taiwan, who now lives and works from her
home and studio in Hamilton, Ontario. Her award winning Raku vessels have been exhibited in galleries and juried shows, including the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibiton. Her work can be seen in both private and public collections in Canada and abroad.
Additionally, her timeless ceramic work is in the permanent collection of the Burlington Art Centre, Burlinton Potters's Guild, and Waterloo Potters' workshop. In 2008, her raku work was purchased by the Hamilton Airport and is on display at the International Arrival Hall.
"Working with clay has brought me much joy in life. What I value most is the challenge of self-realization through the creative process. While others may write a daily journal, my diary is written with clay. Each one of us has our own contribution on this Earth, for an artist, it is my goal to pursue excellence through my art."
